Italia Network – Whole Story
ITALIA NETWORK was born on 12 July 1982 in Udine. The radio broadcasts “RIGHT MUSIC, MUSIC AND ENOUGH”, as a famous jingle says. The format is TOP40: the 40 hits of the moment in rotation. The formula is simple, but effective. Beautiful music, no speakers and an original and thumping communication. “The two-star sticker” is now attached to the windshields of many cars. A real fashion. The expansion of the signal is helped by the many local radios along the peninsula who decide to repeat ITALIA NETWORK. Music programming is increasingly dance and, in 1988, house music explodes. Ibiza is the capital of entertainment par excellence and ITALIA NETWORK speaks Spanish with the pay off “RITMO LATINO”. The LOS CUARENTA, the DISCOSAURO and the DISCONETWORK ranking are born. Now the radio is heard in almost all of Italy. House music is becoming more and more important and ITALIA NETWORK becomes the “house” radio par excellence. MASTERMIX is born which will become the showcase of the greatest Italian DJs. The first LOS CUARENTA compilation is released, which will go to the top of the charts by selling 200,000 copies. NETWORK NEWS is born, an innovative newsletter tailored to the radio target. ITALIA NETWORK is attentive to the different musical genres that have developed from house music: it’s time for SUBURBIA, MASTERQUICK, NETWORK SATELLITE, MAGAZINE and 100% RENDIMENTO. In 1992 a summer tour was organized in the most prestigious clubs in Italy and the success was resounding. In that summer, on August 23, the MAMMI law came into force which regulates the radio and television system. ITALIA NETWORK becomes a national radio and will no longer broadcast local advertising. The ratings are growing and the pay off is “GET UP AND DANCE”, which confirms the dance soul of the radio. The schedule becomes more and more articulated and voices arrive to lead some programs. In 1994 the target was broadened by creating the pay off “MORE MUSIC 4 EVERYBODY”. In 1995 the radio from Udine moved to Bologna. The staff expands, new voices arrive and new programs such as PHILIP MORRIS SOUND, CLUSTER, SENSORAMA. During the weekend the mixed sessions of the DJs of the MINISTRY OF SOUND in London are broadcast. In 1998 the radio was sold to the SPER group and the new pay off became “SUCK THE MUSIC”. From 1 December 1999 the radio no longer broadcasts from Bologna but from Milan. From Radio Italia Network it is now called RIN: “the radio that kidnaps” both the characters from other radios and those from TV and new programs such as VITAMIN H, ORGASMATRON, WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE, HOUSE GALLERY are born. In 2002 the SPER group was sold to RCS – Corriere della Sera. The new pay off is “Radio Un Corno”. On August 31, 2005, RIN abandons FM frequencies to make way for the new Play Radio project and becomes a broadcaster that broadcasts via the Internet under the name of RIN Digital Radio. In 2007 this project was also abandoned and in fact ITALIA NETWORK no longer exists.
In his long life there have been many people who have worked for Italia Network in various roles all equally important to build the legendary history of this radio station. Here is the list of “Characters and Performers” in strict alphabetical order…. And of job
